About the Artist:
John Macnab was born in Bristol England in 1957. He came to the US as a professional musician in 1983. When he moved to Portland Oregon in the mid 90's, he rediscovered his childhood love for painting.
In his youth, John was fortunate to visit the galleries of London and Paris. Here he admired the deceptively loose brushwork of Velazquez and Sargent, and the dazzling light effects achieved by the Impressionists. While having had no formal training, he has spent much time studying the fundamentals, experimenting, and defining his style.
John’s work is featured in private collections in the Pacific NW, California, New York and Great Britain. His work currently can be seen at Valley Rowe Gallery in Portland’s Pearl District, and Ozone Fine Art Gallery in Newport,
